History of Broward County Florida

Broward County was established in 1915, but this region’s history goes back much farther than that. There’s speculation that big-game hunters originally inhabited the area. Later, the Taino, Tequesta, Miccosukee, and eventually the Seminole people would go on to call this region home. The county’s population grew considerably during World War II, due to its naval air station that was used for training, and many service members moved back to the region at the end of the war to live.
