The secrets of the current versatility of the county are hidden in the rich history of the region. The earliest evidence of occupied land in Broward County is about 12,000 years old. The settlements were close to the Miami River, mostly on the northern banks. Europeans, during their expedition to Miami, were greeted by Tequesta people, who did not practice agriculture, but hunting and fishing was common practice.

The decline in the Tequesta population and the gradual growth of the industrial era triggered new settlement formation, declination, and reformation. Eventually, Broward County came into being on April 30, 1915. In 1904, Dania became the first incorporation into Broward County, which witnessed more integrations with Pompano Beach (1908), Fort Lauderdale (1911), and nearly equal parts of the land by Palm Beach County and Dade County (1915).

The year 1925 is considered the peak of the Florida Land Boom. Rightly so, Broward County evolved from agricultural to a developing residential land; later, another developmental boom was seen post-WWII. Another set of incorporations followed in the 50s and 60s. Land in Broward County in Florida has been seeing the population increase ever since.
