The documented history of Cleveland began when the city was founded by General Moses Cleaveland, an investor in the Connecticut Land Company, on July 22, 1796. He led the survey of the land within the Western Reserve. It resulted in the city's discovery near the mouth of the Cuyahoga River in 1796. The city was named after its founder. The city served as an aid for the Union during the American Civil War. After the war, the city experienced immense growth in its population. It developed into a significant industrial city and a gateway for African American migrants and European and Middle Eastern immigrants searching for jobs and opportunities. In the early 19th century, Cleveland grew into an important trade center due to its central location on the mouth of the Cuyahoga River and the southern shore of Lake Erie. Throughout the 20th century, Cleveland was one of the largest cities in America until World War II. This was when it deteriorated from post-war suburbanization and deindustrialization. However, the city has gradually recovered since the 1980s, becoming a significant national center for healthcare and arts center.

Parks
Cleveland is known as "The Forest City," amidst many other nicknames. The city of Cleveland serves as the center of the Cleveland Metroparks nature reserve system. In addition, there are hiking and bike trails located in the Brecksville and Bedford Reservations, along with Garfield Park further north, which provides you access to trails in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Take a trip to the famous Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, the zoo was established in 1882, and it has one of the largest groups of primates in North America. Other notable parks that provide many opportunities for outdoor recreational activities are The Cleveland Metroparks, Rockefeller Park, Cleveland Metroparks Brookside Reservation, Edgewater Park, and others.

Sports
Cleveland is home to four major professional sports teams, which are Cleveland Browns (football), Cleveland Cavaliers (basketball), Cleveland Guardians (baseball), and Cleveland Monsters (hockey). The Cleveland Cavaliers, who play in the National Basketball League (NBA), are the local's favorite. They have enjoyed the most success among professional sports teams in the city. They won the Eastern Conference in 2007, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. After losing several finals, they won their first NBA in 2016. The celebration that ensued saw 1.3 million people attend the championship victory parade. The Cavaliers play their games at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse while the Cleveland Guardians play at the Progressive Field. Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Monsters play their home games at FirstEnergy Stadium and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Restaurant Scene

Beach
After a long week of work after work, The beach is such a great place to relax, have fun with family and friends, receive some of that good Cleveland sun, and experience the waves of the beach. The best beaches are Edgewater Park, Cleveland metro parks, Lakewood Park, Rocky river park, Great lakes watersport, Wendy Park, Huntington Beach, and other amazing beaches.

The city's got some private beaches to check out. Some include The Geneva State Park, Lakeview Park, Wallace Lake, West Branch State Park, Munroe Falls Metropark, and the Hinckley Reservation.
