Naperville is named for its founder Joseph Naper, an American settler originally from Vermont, who along with his family, is credited with founding Naperville, along the DuPage River in 1831. Climb the 253 steps of Moser Tower and see the Millennium Carillon, 72 bells that are played at certain times during the day. At 14 stories high, the tower is about ten feet taller than the Statue of Liberty.

9/11 Commander Dan Shanower September 11 Memorial
Naperville was one of the first cities to construct a memorial honoring those who died in the September 11, 2001 attacks on America. This memorial honors all those who lost their lives and was inspired by Naperville native Naval Commander Dan Shanower who died during the Pentagon attack.

Knoch Knolls Nature Center is carefully maintained to allow visitors to engage in nature at its finest, with two rivers, a creak, and miles of hiking trails through the woods and prairie. It’s a great place to picnic, walk, bike, or jog.
