History of North Dakota

History of North Dakota

For thousands of years, Native American people lived in what is now North Dakota before the coming of the Europeans. Pierre Gaultier, a French-Canadian trader, was the first European to reach North Dakota and led an expedition to the Mandan villages in 1738 with the help of the Assiniboine Indians. More Europeans settled in North Dakota in the 19th century; most of them used the land grants to farm crops and keep livestock. President Benjamin Harrison admitted North Dakota to the Union on November 2, 1889.

The original North Dakota State Capitol in Bismarck burned down in 1930, and it was replaced by a limestone-faced art-deco that is present to this day. Agriculture is North Dakota’s largest industry; however, petroleum export, food processing, and technology also contribute a large percentage of the state’s revenue. Crime is relatively low compared to other states making it one of the safest places to live in the United States. So, if you are looking for a safe place to raise a family, you should consider buying one of the condos in North Dakota.
