San Bernardino County is a huge part of southern California. It was established in 1853 but its history begins way before that. Paleo-Indian sites that were discovered around the county indicate that it was inhabited in 10,000 BC. In the 1770s, Spanish explorers started to arrive in the area. The mission farm, San Bernardino de Sena Estancia, was established in 1819. Today, it is known as the Redlands.
